Abdullah bin Zayed and the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister chair the work of the joint committee between the two countries

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, chaired the work of the sixth session of the joint supreme committee between the UAE and the State of Kuwait, while the Kuwaiti side was chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the sisterly State of Kuwait, Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al Yahya.
The Joint Supreme Committee meeting was attended by Minister of Community Empowerment Shamma bint Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of Health and Community Protection Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of Economy and Tourism Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of State Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State for Youth Affairs Dr. Sultan bin Saif Al Neyadi, Minister of State Saeed bin Mubarak Al Hajri, Chairman of the Emirates Accounting Authority Hamid Obaid Abu Shabas, and Sheikh Nahyan bin Saif Al Nahyan, Deputy Minister of State, Sheikh Maktoum bin Butti Al Maktoum, Director of the Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dubai, the UAE Ambassador to the State of Kuwait, Dr. Matar Hamid Al Neyadi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, Hassan Jassim Al Nowais, and a number of senior officials in both countries.
The sixth session of the Joint Higher Committee came within the framework of the working visit of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the Kuwaiti capital, coinciding with the United Arab Emirates’ celebration of the established fraternal relations with the sisterly State of Kuwait, starting today and for a week in all the emirates of the country, under the title “The Emirates and Kuwait… Brothers Forever.”
At the beginning of his speech, His Highness expressed his happiness at being present today in the sisterly State of Kuwait, during the sixth session of the UAE-Kuwaiti Joint Committee, stressing that the relations between the UAE and the State of Kuwait are an exceptional model of brotherhood, cooperation and love, relations based on deep historical ties and strong human ties, the foundations of which were laid by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah.
His Highness said: “Today, relations are becoming deeper and more established under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, and His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of the sisterly State of Kuwait, may God protect him.”
His Highness added: “The initiative of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, to dedicate a week, starting today, January 29, to celebrate the fraternal relations that bring together the UAE and the sisterly State of Kuwait, embodies a new station to celebrate decades of love, decades of historical pauses, and decades of compatible visions, common constants, and one destiny.”
His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed that the UAE had and still sees its sister Kuwait as a strategic partner and an integral part of the process of progress and prosperity in the Arabian Gulf and the entire region.
His Highness added: “We are proud of the continuous growth our economic and trade relations are witnessing, reaching their highest levels historically in 2024, with a total value exceeding $13.5 billion. We are proud that we are the first Gulf and Arab trade partner for Kuwait, and the second globally. We are proud that two-thirds of Kuwait’s trade with the GCC countries is with the UAE, and that we are the first partner in the world in receiving Kuwait’s non-oil exports. Also, in the health sector, there has been ongoing cooperation since 2021 from During the exchange of organs, which resulted in the transplantation of 153 organs for recipients of human organs from the State of Kuwait, which reflects an advanced level of coordination, integration, and operational readiness between the two sides.”
His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan said: “Our future is more beautiful and bigger, and we look forward to more cooperation in future sectors such as industry, renewable energy, infrastructure, artificial intelligence, and modern technologies.”
His Highness affirmed: “We are proud of the extended relations and educational and cultural cooperation that began even before the Union, as Kuwait supported these sectors during that period and supported the people of the Emirates and stood with them at the beginning of their development path… and we do not forget… and our leadership does not forget… and the people of the Emirates do not forget that support… nor do they forget the historical contributions of Kuwait.”
His Highness said at the conclusion of his speech: “I extend my thanks to all of you for the warm reception and generous hospitality, and for the sincere cooperation and genuine fraternal spirit we have witnessed… May God protect Kuwait, preserve its Emir and its people, and perpetuate its pride and glory.”
After that, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the sisterly State of Kuwait, Abdullah Ali Al Yahya, signed the minutes of the meeting of the sixth session of the joint supreme committee between the UAE and the State of Kuwait.
His Highness and the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister also witnessed the signing of 5 memorandums of understanding and executive programs between the two countries, which included the following:
– A memorandum of understanding in the field of consumer protection and commercial control, signed by the Minister of Economy and Tourism, Abdullah bin Touq Al-Marri and the Kuwaiti Minister of Trade and Industry, Khalifa Abdullah Al-Ajeel.
– The executive program of the tourism cooperation agreement for the years 2026-2028, signed by the Minister of Economy and Tourism, Abdullah bin Touq Al-Marri, and the Kuwaiti Minister of Information, Abdul-Rahman Baddah Al-Mutairi.
– The executive program for the memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of standardization activities for the years 2026-2028, and was signed by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, Hassan Jassim Al-Nowais, and the acting Director General of the Public Authority for Industry in Kuwait, Shamlan Hamoud Al-Jahidli.
– A memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of enhancing integrity and combating corruption, signed by the head of the Emirates Accounting Authority, Hamid Obaid Abu Shabas, and on the Kuwaiti side, the head of the Anti-Corruption Public Authority “Integrity”, Abdulaziz Abdullatif Al-Ibrahim.
– A memorandum of understanding regarding cooperation in the field of oversight and audit of the public sector, signed by the head of the Emirates Accounting Authority, Hamid Obaid Abu Shabas, and from the Kuwaiti side, the head of the State Audit Bureau, Issam Salem Al Roumi.
