The Al Salam Cycling Championship organizes desert races for women and men

Dubai, January 30 / WAM / Under the patronage and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, the Private Office of His Highness the Ruler of Dubai is organizing the desert races for women and men, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, respectively, as part of the Ladder Cycling Championship, as part of the activities of the tournament’s tenth season, which is held under the slogan “10 Years of Achievements and Success.”
The Supreme Organizing Committee has prepared a site that includes a challenging track in the Al Marmoum Reserve in the Saih Al Salam area, where riders participate using mountain bikes, and are required to wear bicycle helmets and glasses, and carry all the equipment that the participant needs in this physically and technically difficult race, in addition to good physical preparation to face different types of obstacles and challenges.
The total prize money for the two races amounts to 455 thousand dirhams, which is the largest for this type of desert racing in the world.
The start will be with the desert race for women, tomorrow, which extends for a distance of 20 kilometers, and will include two categories for Emirati women and open to all nationalities. Then the desert race for men will be held directly the next day, for a distance of 52 kilometers, and will witness the establishment of two challenges with financial prizes allocated within the race itself.
His Excellency Omair bin Juma Al Falasi, Director General of the Private Office of His Highness the Ruler of Dubai, Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee, said that the Ladder Championship, in implementation of the directives and vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, has always focused on comprehensiveness in holding all types of cycling competitions, in order to reach the various segments of society and keep up with the most prominent developments in this sport.
He explained that desert races are a completely different type from road bike races, as they are characterized by a very high physical challenge, in addition to the need to employ sound thinking to find appropriate solutions to overcome obstacles quickly and efficiently, which makes us an annual appointment to follow extremely exciting races and strong competition.
Al Falasi stressed that the large turnout in registration for these two races reflects the development of the levels of participating riders, in addition to the success of the Ladder Championship in consolidating its position as a prominent destination for racers from within the United Arab Emirates and from all over the world.
These are the fourth and fifth races within the activities of the tenth season of the Ladder Cycling Championship. The first race was “Safety and Security” designated for Emirati riders in cooperation with the Dubai Police General Headquarters. Then came the “H.H. They competed in Al Marmoom Reserve.
This race also witnesses competition within the photography competition for the Ladder Cycling Championship, which is held in cooperation with the “Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award”, with the winners being announced and honored at the end of the season.
It is noteworthy that the tournament is being held in cooperation with a number of strategic partners, including Dubai Police, Dubai Municipality, Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai Sports Council, Dubai Government Media Office, Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award, Dubai Sports Channel, Emirates Cycling Federation (General Governance), and Dubai Film.
