We are ready to resume nuclear talks with the United States

During a joint press conference in Istanbul on Friday, the foreign ministers of Iran and Turkey presented their country’s positions regarding regional developments. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stressed Tehran’s readiness to resume nuclear talks with the United States, but stressed that the Trump administration needs to stop threatening to launch an attack against Iran, while Ankara called for reducing tensions and rejected the military option.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said, “Iran is ready to return to the negotiating table if it is based on justice and mutual respect.”

He added: “Any talks must be fair and based on mutual respect. Iran is determined to protect itself, its stability, and the stability of the region, and will not yield to external pressure.” He continued: “Just as we are ready for negotiations, we are ready for war.”

For his part, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said: “We call on America and Iran to sit at the negotiating table to resolve the issues.” He continued: “It is up to Iran to solve its internal problems away from any external interference, and we reject military intervention in Iran.”

He continued: “Military options are no longer useful in the region. We prefer the option of negotiations to reduce tensions, and Iran must take peace paths to achieve peace and stability.”

The Turkish presidency said on Friday that Recep Tayyip Erdogan informed his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian during a phone call that Türkiye is ready to play the role of mediator between Iran and America to ease tensions.

The presidency added, in a statement published on the “X” platform: “President Erdogan stressed that Turkey is ready to assume the role of mediator between Iran and the United States to reduce tension and resolve issues.”

She indicated that Erdogan will also receive the Iranian Foreign Minister, who is visiting Türkiye to hold talks with his Turkish counterpart.
