Pumpkin seed oil…the green gold that revives fallen hair

Dr. Wilma Bergfeld, chief dermatologist at Cleveland Clinic, attributes the benefits of this oil to its richness in essential fatty acids such as (omega 3 and omega 6), antioxidants such as vitamins, in addition to vital minerals such as zinc, iron and selenium. Together, these elements moisturize the scalp, reduce oxidative stress, and provide an ideal environment for the growth of strong follicles that are less prone to breakage.
Although research is still in its early stages, a Korean study showed a noticeable improvement in hair density in men who used oil supplements for 24 weeks. Scientists believe that the secret lies in the ability of pumpkin seed oil to inhibit the enzyme “5 alpha reductase”, which is responsible for producing the hormone associated with hereditary hair loss, making it an effective way to slow hair loss in both sexes.
The oil can be included in the daily routine in three main ways:
-Nutritional supplements: to nourish hair from the inside (after consulting a doctor).
– Topical application: Massage the scalp with oil to stimulate blood circulation before washing the hair.
-Combining with lotions: Adding drops of it to shampoo or conditioner to enhance their effect.
The oil is ideal for dry and brittle hair thanks to its moisturizing properties, while those with oily hair are advised to use it with caution to avoid clogging the pores. Experts confirm that pumpkin seed oil is not an immediate magic solution, but rather requires continuation for several months, with the need to follow an integrated health approach that includes balanced nutrition to ensure the best results.
