The Syrian Interior Ministry arrests a terrorist cell involved in the attacks on Mezzeh and its military airport

On Sunday, the Syrian Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of a terrorist cell involved in carrying out several attacks that targeted the Mezzeh area and its military airport in the Damascus countryside.

The Ministry said, in a press statement today: “Our security units in the Damascus Countryside Governorate, in cooperation with the General Intelligence Service, carried out a series of precise and precise operations, targeting a terrorist cell involved in carrying out several attacks that affected the Mezzeh area and its military airport. These operations resulted in the complete dismantling of the cell and the arrest of all its members.”

She added, “These operations came after continuous field monitoring and tracking of the missile launching areas in both the Daraya and Kafr Sousa regions, where security efforts led to identifying one of the perpetrators of the terrorist attacks and carefully monitoring him, leading to the detection of the remaining members of the cell.”

She pointed out that “following this, several security raids were carried out, during which all those involved were arrested, and a number of drones that were equipped for use in terrorist acts were seized.”

She explained that those arrested “admitted that they were preparing to carry out new attacks using drones, but their arrest foiled their terrorist plan before it was implemented,” revealing that all seized items were confiscated and those arrested were referred to the Counter-Terrorism Department to complete the necessary investigations.

The Ministry of Interior affirmed that it, with all its departments and units, will remain the fortified shield of the nation, and will continue to eradicate terrorism, enhance security and stability, and protect the lives of citizens and the assets of the state.
