The two Nobel scientists stress the role of teachers and passion in developing the scientific generation

Dubai, 1st February / WAM / Nobel Prize laureates Professor Roger Kornberg from the United States of America and Professor Duncan Haldane from the United Kingdom highlighted the importance of education and persistence in the path of scientists, stressing that building the scientific generation requires early passion and guidance from teachers and mentors.

This came on the sidelines of the World Summit of Scientists currently being held in Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai, with the participation of an elite group of scientists and experts from various countries of the world.

Professor Kornberg stressed to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, that scientific progress is only achieved through trial and error, stressing that persistence in the face of daily failure is the essence of the scientific process. He explained that his research focuses on understanding the genetic information in the genome and its role in directing the activities of living organisms, expressing his hope that the future will allow modifying this information to improve their performance.

He called on young people to practice science not only for wealth or pleasure, but also for the human value and deep personal satisfaction it carries, stressing that the insistence on learning and discovery is what creates the scientists who will lead innovation in the future.

Professor Haldane explained that the presence of distinguished teachers in the early stages of education plays a pivotal role in motivating young people to take an interest in science, noting that countries need a segment of society that has technological and scientific awareness to be able to develop and use technology effectively.
