Mohammed bin Rashid meets with the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States and discusses efforts to enhance joint Arab action

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai, received today the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, as part of the activities of the second day of the World Government Summit 2026, which will be held in Dubai during the period from February 3 to 5, under the slogan “Foreseeing future governments.”
The meeting was attended by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the National Olympic Committee, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the diplomatic advisor to His Highness the President of the State, Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Chairman of the World Government Summit, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, and the Minister of State for International Cooperation Affairs, Reem bint Ibrahim. Al-Hashemi.
During the meeting, developments on the regional and international arenas, the overall Arab situation, and the efforts of the Arab League to promote joint Arab action were reviewed. His Highness expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the League to enhance cooperation between member states at all levels, in a way that serves the common interests of the peoples of the region and supports their orientations towards a prosperous future. His Highness also welcomed Aboul Gheit’s participation in the World Summit of Governments, which has become one of the most prominent international platforms for enhancing international cooperation and creating a positive impact on the future of government work and the reality of societies.
For his part, Aboul Gheit expressed his appreciation to the UAE and its wise leadership for the influential role it plays in bringing together world governments and elite experts and thinkers during the World Government Summit in order to unify efforts to confront the growing global challenges. He praised the UAE’s pioneering development model and its excellence in future-conscious investment and leadership in its sectors to continue consolidating the country’s position at the forefront of global competitiveness indicators in various fields.
He stressed that the World Government Summit represents a leading international platform for anticipating the future, formulating innovative and unconventional directions for government work, and building the capabilities of governments to keep pace with accelerating transformations, thus contributing to building a more sustainable and prosperous future for the region and the world.
It is noteworthy that the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States participated in the work of the World Government Summit, speaking during a dialogue session titled “The Arab Region and the Next Decade,” during which he discussed the role of the Arab League in preserving the unity of the Arab countries and resolving their crises, calling for preserving the League and strengthening joint Arab action.
