المملكة: Tomorrow… King Abdulaziz University launches the “Scent of the Past” exhibition

The “Smell of the Past” exhibition, organized by King Abdulaziz University, represented by College of Architecture and Planning – Department of Geomatics, as part of its efforts to enhance integration between academic education and practical application in the fields of Artificial intelligence, which reflects the level of qualification of college students and their ability to employ scientific knowledge in the service of national heritage.
Interactive displays
The exhibition displays models of King Abdulaziz University students’ projects that embody the architectural identity of Saudi regions and their geographical diversity, in addition to interactive displays that highlight regional urban styles and the influence of the natural environment in shaping them, allowing visitors an integrated cognitive and cultural experience.
The exhibition is expected to witness a wide attendance of students. Schools in Jeddah Governorate, who will see student projects and interactive experiments, in a step aimed at developing their early awareness of urban sciences and geomatics, and consolidating their interest in architectural heritage from a contemporary scientific and technical perspective.
Practical Applications
The “Smell of the Past” exhibition comes within the efforts of King Abdulaziz University to support the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, especially in the areas of sustainability, eco-tourism, and enhancing national identity, by linking academic knowledge with practical applications, And employing modern technology in documenting urban heritage.
Dr. Rayan Sahahiri, course professor and supervisor of the exhibition, explained that the initiative aims to provide a modern reading of traditional architecture through spatial analysis tools and digital technologies in documenting heritage, which contributes to raising the quality of future urban projects and enriching tourism and cultural experiences in various regions of the Kingdom.
He pointed out that the exhibition represents an educational and interactive platform that combines scientific research and student creativity, and contributes to enhancing awareness of the importance of architectural heritage. As one of the pillars of national identity and sustainable development.
