The Emirates Fatwa Authority announces the convening of a committee to investigate the crescent of Ramadan 1447 AH at the historic Al-Hosn site on Tuesday evening.

The Emirates Council for Sharia Fatwa announced that the committee to investigate the crescent of the holy month of Ramadan for the year 1447 AH will be held under the chairmanship of the scholar Sheikh Abdullah bin Sheikh Al-Mahfouz bin Bayyah, Chairman of the Emirates Council for Sharia Fatwa, and in the presence of Dr. Omar Habtoor Al-Darai, Vice-President of the Council, on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at exactly six in the evening, at the historic Qasr Al-Hosn site in Abu Dhabi.

The convening of the committee comes within the framework of the powers entrusted to the Council in investigating the new moons and announcing their confirmation, and its keenness to unify the authority in this regard in order to establish a disciplined institutional methodology in proving the arrival of the lunar months, and enhance societal confidence in the procedures for investigating and announcing the results.

The Council explained that the work of the committee will begin after the Maghrib prayer, where the reports of the field monitoring teams and the investigation results received from the accredited observatories in the country will be presented, in addition to studying the testimonies that may be received from various regions of the country, in accordance with the legal controls and approved procedures.

The Emirates Council for Sharia Fatwa had called on members of the community to sight the crescent on Tuesday evening, and to participate in registering their testimonies via the dedicated electronic link that was announced on the Council’s official channels, emphasizing the importance of reviving the Sunnah of Tarai, and enhancing community participation in this important event.

The Council concluded its statement by emphasizing that the announcement of the confirmation of the crescent of the blessed month of Ramadan will be made through the approved official channels as soon as the committee finishes its deliberations, asking God Almighty to make everyone reach the month of Ramadan, and to make it a month of goodness and blessings for the UAE, its leadership, its people, and the entire world.
