Before the Geneva talks…the Iranian Revolutionary Guard begins military maneuvers in the Strait of Hormuz

Start Iranian Revolutionary Guard Monday military exercises in The Strait of Hormuz, according to what was reported by state television, on the eve of the start of a new round of talks between Iran and the United States in Geneva.
The television reported that these maneuvers, the duration of which was not specified, aim to prepare the Guard "to potential security and military threats" In the Strait of Hormuz, after Washington deployed a large naval force.
Some Iranian officials had previously threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz, through which about twenty percent of global oil production passes, and Iranian media reported that the aim of the maneuvers is to enhance the ability to respond quickly.
US-Iran Negotiations
The announcement of these exercises comes on the eve of a second round of talks between Iran and the United States, mediated by the Sultanate of Oman, in Switzerland.
US President Donald Trump urges Tehran to conclude an agreement, in parallel with sending naval military forces to the region.
And on Monday, the commander of the Revolutionary Guard Navy, Mohammad Akbarzadeh, confirmed that all foreign ships are in the region. "It is under full intelligence surveillance and within the reach of our defense capabilities".
