Cooperation between the International Automobile Federation and the Arab League to support regional integration

Cairo, February 17, 2017 (WAM) – The International Automobile Federation (FIA), the global body supervising motor sport and the Federation of Mobility Organizations around the world, yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding with the League of Arab States, with the aim of enhancing cooperation in the fields of transport, tourism and regional sports, at the headquarters of the League’s General Secretariat in Cairo.

The memorandum focuses on improving cross-border movement through internationally recognized travel and transport documents, including the “Triptic” customs passbook system for temporary entry of vehicles, and the international driving license.

The two parties play an important role in facilitating travel, trade and tourism, and supporting regional integration, while the FIA ​​Clubs are reliable bodies for issuing “Triptic” customs pass book certificates and international driving licenses, in close cooperation with national authorities and international frameworks.

The agreement establishes a framework for practical cooperation and knowledge exchange, which strengthens ties between institutions, contributes to setting priorities, developing joint activities, and disseminating best practices.

Emirati Mohammed bin Sulayem, President of the International Automobile Federation, said that this memorandum reflects the Federation’s commitment to working in partnership to provide practical solutions that support mobility, tourism and regional cooperation, noting that by strengthening cooperation with the League of Arab States, there is an emphasis on the role of the International Automobile Federation clubs as reliable partners in facilitating movement across borders and contributing to economic integration throughout the region.

For his part, Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Maliki, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of Economic Affairs at the League of Arab States, stressed that the General Secretariat attaches great importance to building partnerships with international and regional organizations in this vital sector in its various forms.

The FIA ​​is a leading international organization active in the fields of transportation, tourism, traffic safety and motorsport for development, and its membership includes national clubs in a number of Arab countries.

For his part, Issa Hamza, President of the FIA ​​Council for the Middle East and North Africa, said that this partnership provides a platform to enhance regional communication by working together to strengthen tourism and travel across borders, creating a tangible impact on individuals and institutions throughout the Arab world.
