Today, during the inaugural meeting of the Peace Council, which was held at the invitation and chaired by the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, the UAE announced the provision of an additional $1.2 billion to support Gaza through the Peace Council.
This was announced by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, during his participation in the inaugural meeting of the Council, which was held today in Washington, DC.
The meeting brought together an elite group of heads of state, senior officials and international decision-makers, as part of a coordinated effort to activate peace frameworks, support reconstruction paths, and build sustainable approaches that enhance long-term stability in the region.
The participation of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan in the meeting came at the beginning of his working visit to the United States of America, embodying the depth of the strategic partnership between the United Arab Emirates and the United States of America, and the keenness of both sides to strengthen international efforts aimed at consolidating the foundations of regional security and stability.
His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan said at the beginning of his speech: “His Excellency President Trump, I thank you for bringing us together today, and I truly hope that the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan will be an occasion that gives us all inspiration towards peace, coexistence, and living together in prosperity.”
His Highness added: “His Excellency the President, just over five years ago, you and your friend, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, and the Israeli Prime Minister, launched the Abrahamic Peace Agreement, and since then, not only have we succeeded in working with you and Israel towards a better future for the region, but even when the events of October 7 occurred, the UAE was able to work with Israel in providing nearly $3 billion in aid to the Palestinian people in Gaza since outbreak of war.”
His Highness announced: “Today, Your Excellency the President, the UAE announces the provision of an additional $1.2 billion to support Gaza through the Peace Council, and I am pleased to have worked with many friends such as Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, and His Excellency Marco Rubio, who has been an inspiration in many aspects and on many fronts, and I look forward to working with him in the future.”
His Highness concluded his speech by saying: “His Excellency the President, without your support, this council would not have met, and the meeting would not have been held in New York to end this war when you gathered eight leaders from the region to end it,” adding: “During the month of Ramadan, we pray for your success… Thank you.”
The meeting was attended, in addition to His Highness, Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation Affairs, and the UAE Ambassador to the United States of America, Yousef Mana Al Otaiba.
