India officially joins the initiative "Pax silica" To secure supply chains for artificial intelligence technologies

New Delhi, February 20 / WAM / India announced today that it has officially joined the “Pax Silica” initiative led by the United States of America, with the aim of building safe, flexible and innovative supply chains for the basic technologies of the age of artificial intelligence, most notably silicon and vital minerals on which the semiconductor and advanced computing industries are based.

This step came during the conclusion of the activities of the “India Summit on the Impact of Artificial Intelligence 2026” in the capital, New Delhi, bringing India to the efforts to deepen technological cooperation alongside other countries in the initiative, including the UAE, the United Kingdom, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and Qatar.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs explained that New Delhi’s accession included the signing of the initiative declaration, in addition to a bilateral annex to a joint statement regarding the Artificial Intelligence Opportunities Partnership with Washington.

The agreement was signed by the Indian side S. Krishnan, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, while Sergio Gore, US Ambassador to India, and Jacob Helberg, US Undersecretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy and Environment, signed on behalf of the US side.

Ashuni Vaishnaw, Indian Minister of Railways, Information, Electronics and Information Technology, stressed that the initiative will enhance cooperation and flexibility of supply chains in critical technologies within the comprehensive global strategic partnership between the two countries, while Ambassador Gaur described India’s accession as an essential strategic step, pointing to the growing American capabilities in advanced manufacturing and processing of vital minerals.
