"Exceeding his powers".. A new court ruling against Trump’s tariffs

I finishedFriday held that President exceeded his authority by imposing a set of which caused disruption to global trade, thereby obstructing a major tool he used to impose his economic agenda.
The ruling was issued by the court with a conservative majority by six to three votes, and it stated that the International Emergency Economic Powers Law "It does not give the president the authority to impose tariffs"
Unprecedented emergency economic powers
Trump has long used tariffs as a pressure card and in negotiations. Upon his return to the presidency last year, he took advantage of unprecedented emergency economic powers to impose new tariffs on almost all of the United States’ trading partners.
The measures included the imposition of customs duties in response to what Washington considered unfair trade practices, in addition to separate packages of tariffs targeting major partners, Mexico, Canada and China, against the backdrop of drug flows and migration.
The court found on Friday that "If Congress intended to grant special and exceptional power to impose tariffs" Under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, "To do so explicitly, as has been done in other customs duties laws"
Trump’s customs duties
International reactions to the ruling continued, as the European Union announced that it was carefully analyzing it and communicating with the US administration, while Canada believed that the court’s decision confirmed that Trump’s tariffs were unjustified.
As for the United Kingdom, it indicated that it would cooperate with Washington to discuss the repercussions of the ruling.
The ruling does not affect the tariffs on specific sectors that Trump imposed separately on imports of steel, aluminum, and others. There are still ongoing investigations that may lead to more tariffs on certain sectors.
Emergency Economic Powers Act
The Supreme Court’s decision confirms previous findings by lower courts that held that the tariffs imposed by Trump under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act were unlawful.
A lower trade court ruled in May that Trump exceeded his authority by imposing sweeping tariffs and blocked the implementation of most of them, but this ruling was temporarily suspended to decide on the appeal.
