The UAE affirms its full solidarity with Kuwait and its support for its sovereignty over its maritime areas

The UAE affirmed its full and firm solidarity with the sister State of Kuwait in all the measures it takes to protect its legitimate rights and interests, reiterating its support for Kuwait in the face of any infringement on its sovereignty or national interests.

It also stressed that it is following with great concern and denunciation what was included in the lists of coordinates and the map deposited by the sister Republic of Iraq with the United Nations, and what may result from it affecting the rights of the State of Kuwait over its marine areas and waters, including Fasht Al-Qaid and Fasht Al-Aij.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the importance of the Republic of Iraq taking into account the path of fraternal and historical relations that bring together the two countries and their brotherly peoples, and dealing with this issue in a spirit of responsibility and seriousness, in accordance with the rules and principles of international law and the provisions of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea of ​​1982, and in accordance with bilateral understandings, agreements and memorandums of understanding. The Ministry also called for any relevant issues to be addressed through constructive dialogue and diplomatic channels, in a way that enhances security and stability in the region.
