Iran is racing against time to get oil out of its ports in anticipation of a US attack

Agency reported "Bloomberg"Today, Wednesday, that Iranhas doubled the loading of oil onto sea tankers over the past few days, which may be an indication of Tehran’s preparations in anticipation of an attack on it by the United States.

Company data showed "Kepler" That Iranian oil exports from Khark Island during the period from February 15 to 20 amounted to about 20.1 million barrels, equivalent to three times the amount loaded during the same period in January, and more than 3 million barrels per day, a number that far exceeds the usual daily rate of Tehran’s exports.

This escalation comes at a time when the United States is amassing its largest combat force in the Middle East since the Second Gulf War in 2003.

Last year, shortly before the US air strikes, Iran rushed to remove its oil from its ports by shipping large quantities on Oil tankers and sending as much of it as possible to Khark Island. A similar pattern was observed in 2024 during a period of heightened tension.

Oil production and export is a mainstay of the Iranian economy, and a frenetic race to load barrels onto ships would enable Tehran to increase production as much as possible before any potential disruption.

These barrels, most of which are exported from Khark Island, will need to cross the Strait of Hormuz, aboard oil tankers that will do their best to avoid detection, while showing Satellite data indicate an increase in the level of movement on the island.
