Aramco begins production in the Jafoura field… and the start of operation of the “Tanaqeeb Gas” plant

Saudi Aramco, one of the world’s leading integrated companies in the field of energy and chemicals, announced today that it has made significant progress in its ambitious plan to expand gas production, by starting production in the Saudi AramcoIncrease the company’s sales gas production capacity by approximately 80% by 2030 compared to production levels in 2021, to reach approximately 6 million barrels of oil equivalent per day of total gas and associated liquids production.

$12-$15 billion cash flows

This is expected to achieve additional cash flows from operating activities ranging from $12 to $15 billion in 2030, This is subject to future demand for sales gas and liquids prices.

Saudi Aramco President and Chief Executive Officer, Eng. Amin Nasser, said: "We are proud of the start of production work in the Jafoura field, and the start of operational work in the Tanakib gas plant, which are great achievements for Saudi Aramco and for the future Energyin the Kingdom"

He expected that Aramco’s ambitious gas program would become one of the main sources of profitability. These giant projects also contribute to meeting the growing local demand for gas, which supports industrialization and development in a number of key sectors, in addition to the production of large quantities of high-value liquids.

He added that these achievements, which were achieved thanks to God and then thanks to the ambitious and supportive leadership in the Ministry of Energy, and the dedication and innovation of our cadres, confirm the pivotal role of gas in Saudi Aramco’s growth strategy.

Al-Nasser expressed his deep gratitude for the support, trust and interest it receives. Saudi Aramco comes from the wise leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister – may God protect them, indicating that this had the deepest impact on the company’s achievements and distinguished projects that contribute to the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

Jafurah Gas

The gas extracted from the Jafurah field is expected to support the Kingdom’s growth goals in the main sectors. Such as: energy, artificial intelligence, major industries, and petrochemicals, which may provide a major boost to the Kingdom’s economy, and strengthen its position among the ten largest gas producers globally.

Saudi Aramco began producing the first unconventional shale gas in the Jafurah field in December 2025, as technology played a pivotal role in unlocking the potential of the Jafurah field and establishing it as a global standard for unconventional gas development. Since its launch, the project has taken advantage of technology to help reduce drilling and stimulation costs and enhance well productivity, which has contributed to its strong economic prospects.

The Jafurah area covers an area of 17 thousand square kilometers and is estimated to contain 229 trillion standard cubic feet of raw gas and 75 billion barrels of condensate.

The Jafurah field project aims to produce two billion standard cubic feet of sales gas per day, and 420 million standard cubic feet of ethane per day, And about 630,000 barrels of gas liquids and condensates per day by 2030.

Tanaqeeb Plant

The Tanqeeb gas plant is an essential pillar in Saudi Aramco’s strategy to increase gas processing capabilities and diversify its energy product portfolio, which helps enhance long-term economic growth.

Operation began in December 2025, and its production capacity for processing raw gas is expected to reach 2.6 billion standard cubic feet per day. In 2026.

The start of operational work at the Tanakib plant coincided with the start of production in the Marjan field expansion and development program. The plant is characterized by digital integration, improved operational efficiency, the ability to implement complex projects, and the optimal use of resources. It also processes raw gas associated with crude oil production in the Marjan and Zuluf offshore fields.

Unleashing Opportunities

Saudi Aramco’s expansion in the gas field is expected to lead to thousands of direct and indirect job opportunities, creating significant added value, and strengthening Saudi Aramco’s position as a reliable energy provider.

In addition to helping meet the growing demand for energy. Natural gas, and enhancing its supply to national industries, Saudi Aramco’s gas expansion strategy supports the efforts made to reach the optimal energy mix for producing electricity locally, and strengthens the Kingdom’s program to replace liquid fuels, which will have a positive impact on the environment, and supports the Kingdom’s ambition to achieve zero neutrality by 2060, enhance energy security, and contribute to building a more diversified national economy.
