" International Monetary" Warns of the dangers of artificial intelligence to the global financial system

WASHINGTON, April 13, 2017 (WAM) – Director General of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, warned that the global monetary system is not prepared to face the increasing risks of artificial intelligence, in light of the urgent threats raised by the new “Anthropic” model on cybersecurity.
Georgieva’s statements came a day before the start of the annual spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Washington, and after US regulatory bodies last week held an emergency meeting with senior bank presidents to discuss the new artificial intelligence model.
She said in statements, “We do not have the ability – as a world – to protect the international monetary system from massive cyber risks.”
She added, “We are very keen to pay more attention to the controls necessary to protect financial stability in the world of artificial intelligence,” calling for global cooperation in this regard.
