Emirati-American mediation between Russia and Ukraine succeeds in releasing 400 prisoners

The United Arab Emirates announced the success of joint mediation efforts with the United States of America between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Ukraine, which resulted in the completion of a new exchange process that included 200 prisoners from each side, with a total of 400 prisoners, thus bringing the total number of prisoners exchanged between the two countries through these mediations to 5,355 prisoners.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its thanks to Russia and Ukraine for their cooperation with the Emirati-American mediation efforts, reflecting their appreciation for the efforts aimed at finding solutions to the crisis between the two countries.

The Ministry also indicated that the total number of mediations carried out by the UAE during the crisis reached 19, which reflects the depth of its relations with Russia and Ukraine and the trust it enjoys with both parties.

The Ministry stressed that the UAE, based on its close partnerships and balanced relations with all parties, continues to support all efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive political settlement of the crisis, based on its firm belief that cooperation and solidarity in times of distress is a humanitarian and moral responsibility that cannot be postponed, and in a way that contributes to alleviating the humanitarian repercussions and enhancing the opportunities for peace, stability and prosperity regionally and internationally.

It is worth noting that the UAE hosted two rounds of tripartite talks between the Russian Federation, the Republic of Ukraine, and the United States of America in Abu Dhabi, which embodies its approach based on strengthening international dialogue and cooperation, and reflects international confidence in its role in facilitating dialogue and providing a supportive environment for constructive talks.
