The Union of Arab Media Professionals calls for careful verification of sources of information before circulating it

The Arab Media Union – a member of the United Nations – called for the utmost vigilance and careful verification of sources of information before circulating it or building on it, especially in light of the current circumstances.
He warned of the dangers of misinformation, misleading rumors, and fake news, which have become tools used by parties seeking to spread discord, disturb societal peace, and destabilize.
The Union said in a statement issued today, that we live in an era in which the flow of news and information is accelerating, which imposes on all of us a moral and national responsibility towards what we consume and publish.
The Union warned against being led by what is known as “electronic committees and fake accounts” that work to spread lies and distort facts, noting that these committees only represent private agendas aimed at creating confusion and harming national unity, stressing the importance of obtaining facts and information from legitimate channels and official government institutions that are committed to professionalism and credibility in reporting the news.
The Union of Arab Media Professionals also warned against underestimating the spread of false and misleading information, stressing that the national and moral duty lies with every individual.
In this context, Dr. Ahmed Nour, President of the Federation, appreciated the pioneering role of the United Arab Emirates, which deals with the highest level of media professionalism and information technical skill in order to preserve the security of its citizens and residents, noting that the UAE’s firm commitment to protecting its society from any threats, whether internal or external, is an example to be emulated in the region and the world and reflects the vision of its wise leadership in preserving national gains and ensuring the well-being of all.
