The Swiss support higher taxes on the wealthy

Swiss voters support imposing higher taxes on the wealthy, in order to finance the army and pay pensions, in what may be considered a second attack on those with huge wealth within less than a year, according to what Bloomberg News reported yesterday.

An opinion poll published by the Tamedia/20 Minuten group showed that more than two-thirds of the survey participants support the idea of imposing a federal wealth tax of 0.33% on assets whose value exceeds five million Swiss francs (about 6 million dollars).

While there are no official plans to impose such taxes yet, this result is expected to spark debate among parliamentarians, who are examining ways to increase revenues.
