It is too early to assess the impact of the Iran war on global growth

Secretary-General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development Matthias Cormann said on Monday that it is still too early to determine the extent of the impact of the war in the Middle East on global growth, noting that the global economy currently faces a high level of downturn risks.
Corman added during a conference held in Bucharest today, “Of course, this will depend to a large extent on a number of factors that we do not have… such as the duration of the war and ongoing developments, but suffice it to say that there is a significant level of downside risk in the global economy at the present time.”
The organization estimates the global growth rate for 2026 at just under three percent.
