Union Cooperative stabilizes the prices of 160 commodities, 90% of which are food

Union Coop confirmed that the supply chains for imported goods are continuing, and that the strategic stock is available in sufficient quantities to meet the needs of the market. It also confirmed the continuation of Ramadan discount offers, in addition to offering new discounts on a wide range of goods.
The “Cooperative” revealed to “Emirates Today” that it had injected additional products into the list of imported goods, especially in the categories of meat and cheese that were supplied via air freight to meet the increasing demand, stressing at the same time that the various supply chains, whether via land, air or sea transport, operate regularly and continuously.
She stated that the prices of 160 basic commodities were fixed until the end of this year, explaining that 90% of them are basic food commodities, which include a variety of items, including products designated for baby food, and many food commodities that meet the needs of consuming families.
In detail, the CEO of Union Coop, Mohammed Al Hashemi, confirmed that the cooperative has a large strategic stock of basic food and consumer goods sufficient for a period of up to about four months, indicating that this stock reflects a high level of readiness and readiness to meet the needs of consumers.
Al Hashemi told Emirates Today that the cooperative continues to conclude long-term contracts with suppliers to supply various goods, which contributes to ensuring the continued availability of products in the markets, and that they are not affected by any changes.
He pointed out that the cooperative outlets spread across Dubai are witnessing the continuation of special discount offers for the month of Ramadan, in addition to offering new discounts on a wide range of goods, stressing that these offers are still continuing without any significant effects, thanks to the abundant supply of food and consumer goods, and the stability of supply operations, whether from inside or outside the country.
Al-Hashemi added that the cooperative has recently introduced new additional products to the list of imported goods, especially in the categories of meat and cheese, as they are supplied via air freight to meet the increasing demand, stressing that the various supply chains, whether via land, air or sea transport, operate regularly and continuously.
He explained that supply locations or import sources may sometimes be modified in light of some global changes, but this does not affect the availability of goods or the stability of supply operations.
Al-Hashemi stressed that the supply chains for imported goods are continuous and have not been affected, and that the strategic stock is available in sufficient quantities to meet the needs of the market, and that the supply chains are operating normally thanks to the continuous coordination between the cooperative and the federal and local authorities, in addition to close cooperation with supply partners and suppliers, which contributes to maintaining the smooth flow of goods to the markets without any obstacles, and the stability of the availability of products in all of the cooperative’s branches and digital platforms.
As part of the cooperative’s keenness to support consumers, Al-Hashemi reported that the prices of 160 basic commodities have been fixed until the end of this year, with food commodities constituting about 90% of the total of these products, and they include a variety of necessary food items, including products designated for baby food, in addition to many other food commodities that meet the needs of consuming families.
He pointed out that the inventory and supply chain management system at Union Coop relies on proactive planning, in addition to continuous coordination with suppliers and supply partners. Union Coop also relies on careful monitoring of market indicators and analysis of consumer demand patterns, which enhances its ability to deal with various variables and ensure stable availability of goods at all times.
Al Hashemi confirmed that the cooperative’s outlets in various regions of Dubai are witnessing a state of stability and a clear abundance in the supply of goods, explaining that the increase in demand by consumers during the weekends, especially those that coincided with the period of disbursing employee salaries, is considered a natural and recurring matter. This was evidenced by the return of demand to its usual levels, and the calm of purchasing activity during the current period.
To enhance the quality of services provided to customers, Al-Hashemi indicated that the cooperative employs about 200 national service cadres, with the aim of supporting customers within the branches, especially during peak times that witness an increase in the number of shoppers.
In another context, Al-Hashemi stressed that Union Cooperative pays great attention to strengthening cooperation with local farms, as it works to increase contracts with them and expand the scope of benefiting from locally manufactured food products, pointing out that these products are characterized by high quality and reasonable prices, and are also offered in various offers and discounts on a large number of them, which enhances their presence in the markets.
He said that supporting local production is one of the basic pillars of the food security system in the UAE, as the local product represents an important safety valve in ensuring market stability, and enhancing the presence of national products in sales outlets contributes to supporting the stability of supply chains and enhances the sustainability of the availability of goods to consumers.
