Emirates Pharmaceuticals organizes field visits to national factories to review production capabilities and future expansion plans

In a field step that embodies the proactive approach of the Emirates Drug Foundation and its strategic vision to ensure the sustainability of the pharmaceutical system, Dr. Fatima Al Kaabi, Director General of the Foundation, conducted a field tour that included a number of pharmaceutical factories in the country, with the aim of supporting local pharmaceutical manufacturing efforts, and learning about the production capabilities and advanced and approved technologies in drug manufacturing.
Al-Kaabi received a detailed explanation from those in charge of the factories about the current production capacity and future expansion plans, the advanced technologies used in manufacturing processes in accordance with the highest international quality and safety standards, and the growing role played by the local pharmaceutical industries in supporting the stability of the national pharmaceutical market and enhancing the sustainability of pharmaceutical supply chains.
She said: “The pharmaceutical system in the country is capable of responding efficiently to various regional and global changes. The UAE has also succeeded in enhancing the capabilities of local pharmaceutical factories and consolidating legislation and regulations that encourage the development of this sector.”
She also stressed that local pharmaceutical and medical supplies factories constitute a shield for pharmaceutical security in the UAE and a support for the national economy, noting that thanks to joint cooperation with them, the strategic stock of medicines and medical supplies is safe and sufficient to meet the needs of the local market.
Al Kaabi added: “The pharmaceutical sector in the UAE enjoys stability and readiness thanks to the implementation of an advanced system that ensures the sustainability of the availability of medicines to the community in accordance with the highest standards of quality and safety.”
She pointed out that the Emirates Pharmaceutical Corporation is working to strengthen an integrated regulatory environment that supports research and development in the pharmaceutical sector, in addition to developing its regulatory and supervisory policies in line with the best international practices in regulating the pharmaceutical sector, and ensuring the safety, quality and effectiveness of local medicines.
The tour conducted by Dr. Fatima Al Kaabi included a number of pharmaceutical factories in the country, including Medisal Pharma and Adkan Pharma, where Her Excellency was briefed on the progress of production operations in these facilities and the work system followed in the manufacture of pharmaceutical products, in addition to the quality and safety assurance mechanisms adopted in the various stages of production.
In turn, Neha Srivastava, General Manager of Medical Pharma Pharmaceutical Industries, expressed the company’s pride in making Abu Dhabi its headquarters and contributing to supporting the pharmaceutical manufacturing system in the UAE, praising the role of the Emirates Pharmaceutical Corporation in supporting the readiness of national pharmaceutical factories and enhancing cooperation with manufacturing companies.
Srivastava added that the UAE has a solid pharmaceutical base supported by an advanced and stable regulatory environment, stressing that Medical Pharma is committed to ensuring the continued availability of its products in the market and that no shortage occurs in the company’s portfolio in support of the drug security system in the country.
Fukyun Sinis, CEO of Adkan Pharma, pointed out that local pharmaceutical manufacturing plays a pivotal role in ensuring the continuity of availability of medicines, in light of the increasing pressures witnessed by pharmaceutical supply chains globally, stressing the company’s commitment to providing sufficient quantities of pharmaceutical products to meet the needs of the market in the UAE.
He pointed out that Adkan Pharma will continue to work in cooperation with the Emirates Drug Corporation to enhance production capabilities and provide high-quality medicines in accordance with the highest standards of quality and safety.
These visits fall within the Emirates Pharmaceutical Corporation’s efforts to consolidate cooperation and integration with the industrial sector, which contributes to building an advanced health system based on the foundations of innovation, knowledge and sustainability, and enhances the UAE’s position as a leading regional center in the health and pharmaceutical sector.
