Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, and they held a meeting during which they stressed that protecting sea lanes is a shared international responsibility that requires the cooperation of everyone in the region and the world.

The King of Bahrain stressed that Egypt represents a fundamental support in supporting security and stability in the region, expressing his high appreciation for Egypt’s continued support positions in facing the challenges facing Bahrain and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, especially in light of the continuing Iranian aggression on the lands of the countries of the region, praising the active Egyptian role in consolidating the foundations of regional security and stability.

The King also expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Egyptian President for his support and solidarity with the Kingdom of Bahrain in the measures it has taken to defend its sovereignty, security and stability and ensure the safety of its people.

During the meeting, regional developments and their repercussions on security and stability in the region were discussed, in addition to addressing the blatant and ongoing Iranian attacks targeting the countries of the region, and the violation they represent of the sovereignty of states and international laws and norms, and constitute a threat to international peace and security.

The King and the Egyptian President affirmed what was stated in Security Council Resolution 2817, which strongly condemned and demanded the immediate cessation of all attacks launched by Iran on the Arab Gulf states and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the immediate and unconditional cessation of any provocation or threat to neighboring countries, and the inherent right of the GCC countries and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to defend themselves against the attacks launched by Iran.

The King and the Egyptian President stressed the utmost importance of stopping Iran’s threats to disrupt freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, as it is an important international corridor for the transfer of energy and global trade, in violation of international law and the law of the sea, stressing that protecting sea lanes is a shared international responsibility that requires the cooperation of everyone in the region and the world.

The two sides also affirmed the common keenness to strengthen the bonds of established fraternal relations, and to support and develop cooperation, mutual coordination and joint work between the two brotherly countries, praising the advanced level that bilateral relations have reached, and stressing the importance of continuing to strengthen and strengthen them in various fields in a way that achieves the aspirations of the two countries and brings goodness and development to the two brotherly peoples.
