Trump: Iran wants to reach a “deal”… and we are holding discussions with a “respected” Iranian leader

US President Donald Trump said that Iran wants to reach a “deal,” adding that American envoys are holding discussions with a “respected” Iranian leader.

Trump added: Perhaps we will find a leader as we found in Venezuela, and perhaps there will be a joint leadership. There will be a very serious form of regime change.

Trump confirmed that the talks, which Iranian media denied taking place, were taking place with a “senior official” but not with the new Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei.

Trump told reporters in Florida before boarding the plane heading to Memphis in the southern United States, “We are dealing with the man who I think is the most respected and leader” in Iran, without naming him, adding, “We want to stop uranium enrichment, but we also want enriched uranium,” in reference to Tehran’s stockpile of it.
