The Human Rights Council discusses Iran’s attacks on countries in the region

Today, Wednesday, the United Nations Human Rights Council will hold a session on the recent military aggression launched by Iran against Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

The Human Rights Council stated that the discussion session will discuss the Iranian aggression that targeted civilians and civilian infrastructure and resulted in the loss of innocent lives in Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

The session will be held in the hall of the United Nations Human Rights Council at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.

This urgent discussion comes based on an official request submitted by Bahrain last Wednesday, on behalf of the Gulf Cooperation Council and Jordan.

The request states that the group of countries intends to submit a draft resolution to the Council in the context of urgent discussion.

The program of work of the ongoing sixty-first regular session of the Human Rights Council has been amended to include this urgent discussion.

This discussion does not require signatures of participants or formal notifications as is the case in private sessions.

This will be the eleventh urgent debate of the Human Rights Council since its establishment in 2006.
