Two Kuwaitis and a Colombian were imprisoned for 3 years for publishing a clip that harmed national interests

The State Security Court of Appeal in Kuwait overturned the abstention ruling against 3 defendants (two Kuwaitis and a Colombian) and again sentenced them to 3 years in prison, according to the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Qabas.
The defendants had published a video clip on social media containing ridicule and mockery of the Kuwaiti Defense Forces during the period of Iranian aggression against Kuwait.
The Kuwaiti Criminal Court had confirmed that what the defendants did violated the state’s general appreciation, its guiding instructions, and its goal of preserving the general security and stability of its citizens, and was considered a form of harming the country’s national interests, especially in light of these unusual circumstances that require seriousness. At the same time, it confirmed that this behavior had taken place through a means of social media, allowing it to be circulated among an unlimited number of people. It would have exceeded the limits of legitimate expression and embarked on an activity that would harm the country’s national interests.
