"Energy exchange" You get a privilege "Southwest Andaman" In Indonesia

ABU DHABI, 26 March / WAM / Mubadala Energy, the global energy company headquartered in Abu Dhabi, announced that it has obtained a joint exploration and production contract in the “Southwest Andaman” region, according to the “gross production division” system in force in Indonesia.

Mubadala Energy obtained the South West Andaman concession from the Directorate General of Oil and Gas, in the second round of bidding in 2025. Mubadala Energy will operate the concession area, with a 100% participation interest.

The South West Andaman region is located adjacent to Mubadala Energy’s existing concession areas in the Andaman Sea, and represents a strategic addition to the company’s portfolio, which includes the South Andaman, Central Andaman and Andaman 2 concessions.

The award of this contract was the culmination of meticulous technical and commercial efforts, which began with the identification of an opportunity in “Southwest Andaman” in 2022, followed by the signing of the joint study agreement in 2023 and its completion in November 2024, after which the bidding offer was submitted in November 2025.

These efforts embody Mubadala Energy’s keenness to take the initiative and anticipate opportunities, and its firm commitment to strengthening its leadership presence in this basin.

Mansour Mohammed Al Hamed, Managing Director and CEO of Mubadala Energy Company, said that the award of the “Southwest Andaman” concession confirms the company’s technical team’s capabilities and experience in deep-water exploration and its adoption of our growth mentality.

He added that the company was able to develop an exceptional understanding of the Andaman Sea Basin, as this concession represents a continuation of its important discoveries in the “Laiyaran”, “Tangkulu” and “Temban” fields, which have reserves estimated at several trillion cubic feet of gas, stressing the commitment to continue developing the enormous potential of gas resources in this region in line with the company’s growth strategy, and supports energy security priorities in Indonesia.

The South West Andaman region represents a natural extension of the geological pattern that has underpinned the company’s recent drilling successes in the Andaman Sea, including the two landmark discoveries at the Laiyaran-1 and Tankulu-1 wells in South Andaman, where Mubadala Energy is making significant development progress towards achieving first gas production before the end of 2028.

For his part, Abdullah Bu Ali, President of Mubadala Energy in Indonesia, said that this concession represents a new step in the company’s journey in the Andaman Sea region, and reflects the continued confidence that the Indonesian government places in Mubadala Energy as a reliable, long-term partner.

He added that the “Southwest Andaman” concession is a strategic addition to the company’s concession areas in Andaman, due to its promising potential. He looks forward to cooperating with the Directorate General of Oil and Gas, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority in Indonesia, and all stakeholders, as the work program progresses, to develop this concession in a way that supports the future of energy in Indonesia and the communities in which the company operates.

The first exploratory well is expected to be drilled in “Southwest Andaman” during the second exploratory phase, “from the fourth to the sixth year”, after the completion of the 3D seismic survey and full analysis of its data, in line with the obligations of the production sharing contract, and in parallel with Mubadala Energy’s activities in its broader portfolio in the Andaman Sea region.

Mubadala Energy’s Andaman portfolio currently includes four concession areas, including South Andaman, Central Andaman, Andaman 2 and South West Andaman.

This portfolio contributes to consolidating the company’s position as the largest and most active exploration entity in the basin, with discovered resources estimated at several trillion cubic feet of gas, in addition to a growing group of promising, high-quality exploration opportunities.
