An explosion near Erbil airport and drones were shot down in Dohuk

Agence France-Presse reported that an explosion was heard on Saturday near Erbil International Airport in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, which includes forces of the US-led international coalition.
An eyewitness said that smoke rose around the airport, while air defenses inside Erbil Airport responded to an Iranian drone. In a simultaneous development, two drones were shot down in the sky of the city of Dohuk in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, without any casualties recorded.
The Iraqi Ministry of Defense also announced that a drone had fallen inside the Majnoon oil field in Basra Governorate without exploding, and no losses were recorded.
These developments come in light of the escalation of drone attacks since the outbreak of war in the region, as sites in Iraq, including Erbil, are subjected to repeated attacks for which armed factions loyal to Iran claim responsibility.
