Korea’s industrial output recorded a growth of 2.5% in February

SEOUL, 31 March / WAM / The industrial output of the Republic of Korea recorded its fastest growth in 5 years and 8 months last February, thanks to gains in the manufacturing and services sectors, according to data issued today, Tuesday, by the Korean Ministry of Data and Statistics.

The Korean Yonhap News Agency quoted ministry data as saying that industrial output rose by 2.5% on a monthly basis during February, recording the fastest increase since June 2020 when it jumped by 2.9% on a monthly basis.

Production in the mining and manufacturing sector, which is considered the backbone of the economy, rose by 5.4% on a monthly basis during the past month, and this also represents the largest increase since June 2020 when it rose by 6.6%.

In particular, semiconductor production jumped 28.2% month-on-month during February, and retail sales, a measure of private spending, remained unchanged from the previous month.
