Korea’s monthly exports exceeded $80 billion for the first time in March

SEOUL, 1st April / WAM / The Republic of Korea’s monthly exports exceeded the barrier of 80 billion US dollars for the first time during the month of March, recording a jump of about 50% compared to last year, driven by record shipments of semiconductors, according to data issued today, Wednesday, by the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources.
The Korean Yonhap News Agency quoted the ministry as saying that the total export shipments reached $86.13 billion last month, an increase of 48.3% year on year.
This figure also represents a significant increase from the previous monthly high of $69.5 billion, which was recorded in December 2025.
Imports rose 13.2% year-on-year to US$60.4 billion during March, resulting in a trade surplus of US$25.74 billion.
Semiconductor exports jumped 151.4% year-on-year, hitting a record $32.83 billion last month, surpassing the $30 billion mark for the first time.
