"Abu Dhabi Arabic Language" Launches an initiative "Treasures of knowledge" To strengthen cultural partnerships


ABU DHABI, 2nd April, 2018 (WAM) – The Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language launched the first edition of the “Treasures of Knowledge” initiative at the United Arab Emirates University by enriching its library with 2,000 diverse titles from the publications of its two projects, “Kalima” for Translation and “Issuances” for Arabic Publishing.
The qualitative initiative, which the Center launches in conjunction with the “Year of the Family”, embodies an institutional approach based on expanding the horizons of cultural cooperation between national entities, based on the firm belief that knowledge is a sustainable legacy, by enriching academic and cultural institutions with the Centre’s qualitative publications, and providing access to knowledge sources, which contributes to strengthening strategic partnerships and integrating roles between institutions, and achieving the cultural vision of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi as a cultural beacon and a global center for enhancing the presence of the Arabic language, and supporting the cultural and knowledge movement. And the comprehensive development process in the country.
The launch of the initiative was witnessed by His Excellency Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Cultural Advisor to His Highness the President of the State, Supreme President of the United Arab Emirates University, His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Tamim, President of the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre, Juma Al Dhaheri, Director of the Specialized Libraries Department at the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre, Professor Dr. Ahmed Ali Al Raisi, Director of the UAE University, and a group of university professors and cultural elites in the country.
His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Tamim said that this initiative comes from the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language’s vision of the importance of books and libraries in establishing the knowledge of societies.
He explained that choosing the United Arab Emirates University to be the starting point for the initiative, which will continue throughout the “Year of the Family” to include most educational institutions and a number of government and private agencies in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, stems from a firm belief that science is the foundation of all success, and that the book is the basic foundation of knowledge.
The initiative falls within the framework of the efforts of the Abu Dhabi Center for Sustainable Arabic Language to enhance the presence of the Arabic language and bring books closer to various groups, and its integrated vision for building a sustainable cultural system, based on making knowledge available, facilitating access to it and circulating it, and strengthening bridges of intellectual communication between institutions, in a way that supports the goals of cultural development in the country, and keeps pace with the rapid transformations in the production and dissemination of knowledge.
