Korea’s food exports rise by 4%

SEOUL, April 4 (WAM) – South Korea’s exports of agricultural and food products increased during the first quarter of this year, by 4% on an annual basis.
The South Korean Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs stated, in recent data issued today, that the increase in exports came thanks to the strong demand for instant noodles (ramyun) and fruits, noting that the value of exports of agricultural and food products during the period from January to March last year amounted to 2.56 billion dollars, compared to 2.45 billion dollars recorded in the same period last year.
It noted an increase in exports to the Middle East during the aforementioned period, by 32.3% to 106.9 million dollars, and to China and North America by 14.5% and 6.3% to 568.9 million dollars and 508.9 million dollars, respectively, in addition to an increase to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and the European Union by 2.2% and 4.9% to 481.9 million dollars and 233.4 million dollars, respectively. straight.
The Ministry confirmed that it will enhance its support for companies exporting to the Middle East to help them reduce cost burdens and find alternative markets.
