Dubai Police warns against fake insurance companies

The Dubai Police General Command has warned members of the community against falling victim to fake insurance companies and offices, which exploit some people’s desire to obtain low-cost offers, stressing that these unlicensed entities have become significantly active across social media platforms, and are using misleading marketing methods to lure victims and obtain their money.

Dubai Police confirmed that these fake companies rely on publishing attractive advertisements that include lower prices compared to the markets, and promote quick and immediate vehicle insurance or health insurance services, and with fake offers, so that some people rush to deal with them and transfer money without verifying the legality and licensing of the office from the relevant authorities in the country.

Dubai Police stressed that insurance companies approved in the UAE are subject to the supervision and control of the competent official authorities, and are committed to clear procedures for issuing documents and guaranteeing the rights of customers, calling on the public to ensure that the insurance company or broker is licensed before completing any payment process, and not to be led by misleading advertisements or attractive and fictitious offers that are not commensurate with the market prices offered.

Dubai Police stressed its keenness to enhance community awareness of the dangers of electronic fraud, noting that the relevant security authorities follow these activities and work to monitor them and take legal measures against those responsible for them, but individual awareness remains the first line of defense to prevent such crimes.

It also called on members of the public to immediately report any fraudulent attempts via the “eCrime” platform or by calling 901 for non-emergency cases, stressing its continued efforts to monitor these criminal methods and enhance community awareness to protect individuals from falling victim to such crimes.
