We do not want hostility with Iran, but there is no trust in this regime

Dr. Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Advisor to His Highness the President, said on Sunday, “The UAE does not want hostility with Iran, but with this regime there is no trust.”

Gargash pointed out, in statements to a group of foreign journalists and reported by Sky News Arabia, that the foundations are very strong for the UAE’s return, stressing: “We will return, and we will return with great strength, but we will also have to do some work.”

Regarding developments in the Strait of Hormuz, Gargash pointed out: “We are not ready to act as a naval force, but we will join any effort led by the United States, or any international effort, to secure navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.”

He stressed: “This matter is extremely important for the global economy and global trade; it is an issue of utmost importance to everyone. The Strait of Hormuz cannot be held hostage by any country.”

He added: “This (Hormuz) file must be an integral part of the settlement of any dispute, with a clear agreement on it.”

He continued: “When Iranians talk about compensation, this issue also applies to countries that were harmed by Iran.”

He added: “The agreement with Iran must not only include stopping US-Israeli military actions against Iran, but it must also include stopping Iran’s hostile actions against its neighbors.”

The diplomatic advisor to the President of the UAE explained: “The Iranian regime is fighting for itself, not for the sake of the state, and any normal regime will not accept the level of destruction it is witnessing.”

Gargash said: “We also want to see an end to this conflict, but its end must not lead to continued instability in the region.”

He stressed: “From our point of view, we do not want further escalation, but we also do not want a ceasefire that does not address some of the main issues that may create a more dangerous environment in the region.”

The diplomatic advisor to the President of the UAE continued: “I believe that the Iranian strategy will actually lead to the consolidation of the American role in the Gulf in the future.”

He added: “Our main security partner is the United States. We will strengthen our relationship with the United States further.”

Regarding international support for the UAE, Gargash said: “We are very grateful to the many countries that help us. There are many countries that stand by our side.”
