Abu Dhabi Police raises awareness of the dangers of cybercrime

ABU DHABI, 7 APRIL / WAM / The External Regions Police Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police carried out awareness-raising workshops as part of the media campaign “Be Cautious”, to enhance community awareness of the dangers of cybercrime, and introduce its emerging methods, in a way that contributes to protecting members of society and enhancing digital security, within the strategic priority “Proactive Security”.
Brigadier General Salem Adah Al-Baqmi, Director of the External Regions Police Directorate, confirmed that these workshops aim to spread security culture and raise awareness of the dangers of cybercrime, especially in light of the rapid technical development and the spread of artificial intelligence applications, and the accompanying diversity of fraudulent methods such as telephone fraud, financial fraud, extortion, electronic bullying, online begging, and fake employment, pointing out the importance of joining efforts to reduce these crimes and reduce their indicators.
For her part, Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Faten Muhammad Manahi, Deputy Head of the Events and Partnerships Team supervising the implementation of the workshops, explained that the awareness programs focused on enhancing public awareness of the necessity of reporting any fraud or fraud attempts through official channels, and not interacting with links or messages of unknown origin, warning against dealing with unreliable electronic stores that aim to steal bank data or seize money.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Menahi stressed the importance of protecting personal data and not disclosing it, and following safe practices when using the Internet and smart devices, which contributes to the prevention of cybercrimes and enhances community security.
Awareness workshops were carried out in a number of vital locations, including labor cities in the city of Jubail on Yas Island, and Sheikh Zayed Festival activities, with the aim of reaching the largest possible segment of society and enhancing their security culture.
