A huge budget to restore and protect an American lake

The US administration requested the allocation of one billion dollars to restore and protect the Great Salt Lake, as part of the annual budget proposal submitted to Congress.
This request includes a huge sum of money to improve the flow of water into the lake and ensure its long-term sustainability, according to a White House official.
But the $1 billion directed to the Great Salt Lake will be allocated to creating a “comprehensive federal program” led by the Department of the Interior, according to the budget.
The ministry will work with the US Army Corps of Engineers, the Department of Agriculture and the Environmental Protection Agency to improve water flow into the lake.
The money will be used to restore ecosystems and deal with toxins within the lake bed.
Together, these investments will ensure that the Great Salt Lake continues to support aquatic life, serve as a local source of vital minerals, and drive economic activity in Utah and beyond.
This increase in funding comes as the Great Salt Lake’s water levels have dropped dramatically over the past decade, putting it on the brink of collapse, according to warnings from local scientists and researchers.
If the lake dries up, it will expose the area to toxic dust and pollutants. About the newspaper “Desert”
