A new project worth 47.5 million dirhams enhances Kalba’s water supply by three million gallons per day

Sharjah, 9 April / WAM / The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority has begun operating a new project to enhance water supplies in the city of Kalba, which is represented by the strategic high-capacity connection between the resources of the “Taqa” company and the distribution network of the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, to ensure that the growing needs are met effectively and efficiently at a total cost of the project amounting to 47,510,444 dirhams.
Engineer Yousef Al Hammadi, Director of the Kalba Department at the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, explained that the project succeeded in creating a qualitative shift in the city of Kalba by adding 3 million gallons of water per day to the network, while the distribution capacity of the city’s water network increased from 6 million to 9 million gallons per day and achieved an increase in operational capacity by 50%.
He pointed out that the project was implemented with funding from the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority in the amount of 25,650,381 dirhams and funding from the Initiatives Committee of His Highness the President of the State in the amount of 21,860,063 dirhams and operates at full capacity around the clock “24/7” to directly feed the authority’s tanks.
He added that the project included an advanced engineering system to ensure continuity of supply and the extension of 14.75 kilometers of pipes with a diameter of 400 mm, which are characterized by high quality and resistance to pressure. It included control systems and the installation of control valves at a distinguished level to ensure the stability of the tanks and prevent sudden surges. The electrical equipment for the project included the completion of all excavation work and the laying of vital cables inside the station yard to ensure complete technical connectivity.
Al Hammadi stressed that the water network in the city of Kalba is now in a state of complete readiness and maximum operation, and the new infrastructure ensures the provision of sustainable and reliable water supplies that meet all current consumer requirements, and supports the city’s future expansion plans thanks to the fruitful cooperation between the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority and Taqa.
