Dubai Police warns of sudden deviations on the roads (video)

Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations Affairs at Dubai Police, Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, warned of the danger of “sudden deviation on the roads,” stressing that it is considered one of the most dangerous traffic violations that cause serious accidents, and are accompanied by injuries, deaths, and material losses.

He explained that Dubai Police recently monitored a number of accidents, the main cause of which was the driver changing his lane suddenly and without ensuring that the road was clear or giving a traffic light, which surprises other drivers and prevents them from taking the appropriate reaction to avoid a collision, especially on high-speed highways.

Major General Saif Al Mazrouei stated that sudden swerving often leads to side collision accidents or the deviation or deterioration of other vehicles, and may also cause serial accidents between several vehicles, indicating that this behavior reflects a clear disregard for the safety of road users and a lack of awareness of its dangerous consequences.

He added that many drivers resort to sudden swerves due to missing the exit or the desire to overtake vehicles or enter a faster lane, stressing that these actions do not justify endangering lives, and that arriving late is better than not arriving.

He stressed that adhering to the correct path, ensuring that the road is clear, using traffic lights and leaving a sufficient safety distance are among the basics of safe driving, calling on drivers to be calm and not make sudden decisions while driving.

He also called on the public to report dangerous traffic behavior through the “We are all police” service on the number (901) or through the “Police Eye” service in the Dubai Police application, stressing that traffic safety is a shared responsibility that requires everyone’s cooperation to preserve lives and property.
