The annual inflation rate in the euro zone reached 2.6% last March

Brussels, April 16 / WAM / The euro zone recorded an increase in the annual inflation rate to 2.6% during March 2026, compared to 1.9% last February, according to data issued by the European Statistical Office Eurostat. The inflation rate in the European Union also rose to 2.8% compared to 2.1% in the previous month.

On an annual basis, the inflation rate in the Eurozone reached 2.2% in March 2025, while the European Union recorded 2.5% during the same period last year.

Denmark recorded the lowest annual inflation rates at 1.0%, followed by the Czech Republic, Cyprus and Sweden at 1.5% each. In contrast, Romania came at the top of the countries with the highest inflation at 9.0%, then Croatia at 4.6% and Lithuania at 4.4%.

The data showed that inflation declined in three member states during March compared to February, and stabilized in one country, while it rose in 23 countries.

This rise reflects continued price pressures within the eurozone economy, which may prompt the European Central Bank to be patient in any potential steps to ease monetary policy during the coming period.
