"Sharjah Museums" Celebrates the 30th anniversary of the opening of the Sharjah Science Museum

Sharjah, April 16 / WAM / The Sharjah Museums Authority celebrated the 30th anniversary of the opening of the Sharjah Science Museum, under the slogan “Thirty Years of Scientific Giving”, recalling the journey of one of the most prominent interactive scientific centers in the country since its opening on April 17, 1996, and its role in consolidating scientific culture and promoting learning based on experience and discovery among various segments of society.

The celebration comes as a culmination of three decades of disseminating scientific knowledge through innovative methods that combine education and practical application, keeping pace with scientific and technological developments, and strengthening the museum’s position as a cultural and educational tributary that contributes to consolidating Sharjah’s presence on the map of culture in the Arab world.

On this occasion, the Authority is organizing a series of interactive events and programs throughout the year, with each month devoting a scientific topic, with the activities starting from April 17, including family scientific initiatives and workshops, and programs for observing celestial bodies, in addition to reviewing prominent stations from the museum’s journey and its pioneering role.

The agenda includes the launch of the “With the Family towards Science” initiative next May in conjunction with International Museum Day, while June is dedicated to World Environment Day activities, July witnesses the organization of the “Moon Day” event within Space Month, August also includes the “Summer with the Family is Better” program, and September includes the “Science Challenge with Families” program dedicated to people with hearing disabilities.

October witnesses the activities of International Day of Older Persons and World Space Week 2026, while the momentum continues in November through scientific initiatives within Innovation Month, and the activities conclude in December with special programs for National Day.

Since its opening, the museum has witnessed a development in its programs and content, adopting an interactive approach that allows visitors to engage in scientific experience and link theoretical concepts with practical application, which has strengthened its position as an educational destination for families and students.

The museum also strengthened its presence through partnerships with a number of scientific and academic bodies, which contributed to enriching its programs and expanding the scope of its impact, and providing educational experiences in accordance with best practices in the field of museum education.

The museum includes various scientific and educational facilities, including a main interactive exhibit hall covering multiple scientific fields, a planetarium that presents astronomical displays, in addition to an explanatory lecture hall that presents live scientific presentations, and an educational center that includes laboratories and workshops designated for students.

The museum continues to offer scientific programs and activities throughout the year, including family workshops, children’s camps, and events related to local and international events, in addition to temporary exhibitions that keep pace with the latest scientific innovations.

The museum plays an active role in spreading scientific awareness and promoting a culture of innovation, through interactive educational programs that link knowledge and application, and encourage critical thinking and exploration.
