Minister of State for International Cooperation confirms the solidity of the UAE and the solidity of its partnership with the United States

Reem Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation, during her speech yesterday at the Semafor Global Economy Summit in Washington, affirmed the UAE’s resilience in the face of the treacherous and unprecedented Iranian terrorist attacks that targeted the country’s territory.
Al Hashemi praised the efficiency of the country’s air defense system, and the determination and steadfastness of the citizens of the UAE and those residing on its soil.
They said: “Our society emphasized the model of life that the UAE represents, not only in prosperity but also in living in safety and security. An embodiment of the vision of our leadership and the spirit of the people of the Emirates.”
It also touched on the issue of freedom of navigation, noting the global economic repercussions of obstructing navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
Her Excellency said: “No party should control the Strait of Hormuz, as international corridors are a public benefit for everyone.”
Al-Hashemi stressed that the Strait of Hormuz constitutes a vital corridor for about a fifth of global energy supplies, and a major artery for flows of a wide range of basic commodities, including about 30% of fertilizer trade, 25% of liquefied natural gas, 25% of oil supplies, and 70% of petrochemicals globally.
She stressed that any sustainable solution to the war must address the deep roots of instability and ensure the protection of global trade routes and vital economic infrastructure.
She also stressed, in the context of her talk about the future vision of the UAE, that the Emirati-American partnership is becoming deeper and stronger, explaining that the recent regional tensions have not weakened this partnership, but rather have strengthened the level of close coordination between the two sides. Her Excellency said: “It is a partnership that is not only diverse, but also ambitious, and it continues through successive administrations, as we have so far invested about a trillion dollars in the American economy, and we have committed to investing an additional 1.4 trillion dollars over the next decade.”
She pointed to the UAE’s cooperation with the United States in the field of space exploration as a model of bilateral relations characterized by ambition and innovation.
These statements come within the framework of His Excellency Al Hashemi’s visit to Washington, which includes holding a series of meetings with members of Congress, an elite group of policy experts, in addition to representatives of humanitarian non-governmental organizations.
Meetings with its counterparts in America aim to enhance the depth of UAE-US relations, and emphasize the importance of cooperation in establishing stability, supporting sustainable economic growth, and addressing common global priorities.
