The Lebanese President says that direct negotiations with Israel are “delicate and detailed”

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun considered that the negotiations with Israel were “delicate and detailed,” in statements on Friday, the day after US President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah, and that Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would meet at the White House within days.
Aoun said in a statement, “Direct negotiations are precise and detailed. The ceasefire is the gateway to continuing the negotiations, and it is an option that receives local and external support,” reiterating Lebanon’s demand to “establish the ceasefire, secure the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the occupied southern territories, recover prisoners, and address the outstanding border disputes.”
The ten-day agreement entered into force at midnight on Thursday and Friday.
Its text, which was published by the US State Department, does not include any reference to Israel’s withdrawal from the areas it invaded during the war.
