Dubai Police impounds vehicles for dangerous displays during rain

Director of the General Traffic Department at Dubai Police, Brigadier General Jumaa Salem bin Suwaidan, said that traffic patrols were able to seize a number of vehicles, whose drivers carried out dangerous and chaotic acts during the rain in several areas of the emirate, in traffic behavior that threatens the safety of road users and puts their lives in danger.
Brigadier General Jumaa bin Suwaidan explained that some drivers took advantage of rainy weather times to practice dramatic driving, suddenly swerving vehicles, and causing chaos on the roads, despite repeated warnings issued by Dubai Police about the necessity of adhering to traffic rules and being careful while driving in volatile weather conditions.
He pointed out that these behaviors are among the most dangerous traffic practices, especially in light of slippery roads and the low level of grip between tires and the road surface during rain, which increases the possibility of losing control of the vehicle, and the occurrence of serious traffic accidents that may result in serious injuries or deaths.
He added that traffic patrols monitored these violations in a number of areas, including the Al-Ruwayyah and Al-Lasili areas, where the violating vehicles were seized and legal measures were taken against their drivers, which included violations of display and chaos, driving recklessly, and making noise in vehicles, which are violations that require the vehicle to be seized in accordance with the provisions of Decree No. (30) of 2023 regarding vehicle seizure, and the value of releasing the seizure reaches 50 thousand dirhams.
Brigadier General Jumaa bin Suwaidan stressed that the Dubai Police General Command will not tolerate such dangerous behavior that endangers the lives of drivers and road users, noting that traffic patrols will continue to intensify their oversight in various regions of the emirate to control negative traffic behavior and enhance road safety.
Brigadier General Jumaa bin Suwaidan called on drivers to adhere to traffic rules, and to avoid reckless or showy driving, especially during rain, stressing the need to reduce speed, leave a sufficient safety distance between vehicles, ensure the readiness of the vehicle and the suitability of the tires, and not be drawn into dangerous behaviors that may end with tragic consequences.
He also called on community members to report dangerous traffic behavior through the “Police Eye” application, or by calling the “We are all police” service at 901, stressing that enhancing traffic safety is a shared responsibility that requires everyone’s cooperation.
Brigadier General Juma bin Suwaidan:
• Do not tolerate dangerous behavior, and we will continue to intensify supervision in various areas of the emirate to control negative traffic behavior.
