The UAE condemns the targeting of UNIFIL forces in southern Lebanon

The UAE strongly condemned the attack against the French battalion within the United Nations peacekeeping force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in southern Lebanon, which resulted in the death of a soldier and the injury of three members of the international force, stressing that targeting peacekeeping forces is a violation of the principles of international law and the provisions of Security Council Resolution No. 1701.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the UAE’s solidarity with the countries participating in the UNIFIL forces, and offered its sincere condolences and sincere sympathy to the victim’s family, and to the French Republic and its friendly people, wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.
The UAE urged the sisterly Lebanese government to carry out its duties in providing protection to UNIFIL forces, investigate the circumstances of this attack, ensure that it is not repeated in the future, and take all necessary legal measures to hold those responsible accountable.
It also renewed its support for the government in this critical stage that brotherly Lebanon is going through, and its support for its work to confine weapons to the state and dismantle terrorist organizations, as this step represents a pivotal step in the path of consolidating national security and stability.
