We are still far from a final agreement with Washington

Iran’s chief negotiator, Speaker of Parliament Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, spoke of “making progress” in negotiations with the United States, but stressed that the two parties are far from a final agreement.
Ghalibaf said in statements to Iranian state television, broadcast in the early hours of Sunday morning: “We reached with the American delegation a more realistic understanding of each other during the negotiations, despite the continued lack of trust.”
He added: “During the negotiations, agreement was reached on some issues, while we did not agree on other issues.”
Ghalibaf, who headed Iran’s delegation in a round of negotiations hosted by Islamabad a few days ago, said: “We are still far from a final agreement.”
He also confirmed that “there were some misunderstandings during the negotiations, including the issue of releasing frozen assets.”
In the same context, a high-ranking American official warned of the possibility of resuming the war on Iran in the coming days, if progress is not made in the negotiations between Washington and Tehran soon, according to what he told the Axios news site.
