An integrated traffic plan to ensure the safe return of students

The Ministry of Interior, represented by the Federal Traffic Council, confirmed its full readiness, in coordination with police leadership, to secure the return of students to schools, through an integrated traffic plan aimed at enhancing road safety and ensuring the smooth flow of traffic.
The Federal Traffic Council explained that traffic presence will be intensified in the vicinity of schools and vital roads, including intersections and internal and external roads, especially during the morning periods and at the end of the school day. With the aim of organizing traffic, reducing accidents, and facilitating the movement of school buses, in addition to ensuring the safety of pedestrian crossing paths to ensure the safe arrival of students from vehicles to school gates.
The Federal Traffic Council stressed that the safety of students is a top priority, with the importance of integrating roles between police agencies, educational institutions and parents, and this contributes to achieving a safe return for students..
The Council called on drivers to pay attention while driving, reduce speeds near schools, adhere to traffic laws, and stop completely when the “Stop” arm is opened on school buses, in addition to cooperating with traffic patrols, in a way that contributes to enhancing the flow of traffic and reducing accidents..
For its part, Abu Dhabi Police urged vehicle drivers to adhere to a complete stop when the side arm of school buses is opened in both directions, with a distance of no less than five metres, to ensure that students cross safely and securely, explaining that a fine of 1,000 dirhams and 10 traffic points will be applied if drivers do not stop when they see the “Stop” sign for school buses.
