The Supreme Council of Energy in Dubai discusses the expansion of gas stations and reviews artificial intelligence solutions
Dubai, April 22 / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, chaired the ninety-third meeting of the Council, which was held virtually, in the presence of His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Council.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency Ahmed Butti Al Muhairbi, Secretary General of the Council, and Council members His Excellency Marwan bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, His Excellency Abdullah bin Kalban, Managing Director of Emirates Global Aluminum, His Excellency Hussain Sultan Lootah, CEO of ENOC Group, Juan Friel, Director General of Dubai Petroleum Corporation and DOSP, and Mona Al Osaimi, Executive Director of the Strategy and Corporate Governance Sector at the Roads and Transport Authority.
The Council reviewed Dubai’s strategy for expanding retail fuel outlets, and discussed a number of strategic initiatives that facilitate consumers’ filling operations and ensure smooth traffic at vehicle fuel stations.
DEWA’s use of artificial intelligence in its operational processes was also reviewed, through the development of the world’s first intelligent control system for gas turbines at the Jebel Ali Power Production and Water Desalination Complex, and the development of the “Virtual Engineer” expected to be launched in June 2026 to enhance efficiency and performance.
His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer said that, in line with the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, “may God protect him,” we continue to apply artificial intelligence solutions in our pioneering projects, the Jebel Ali Power Production and Water Desalination Complex and the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Energy Park, to enhance energy efficiency and clean energy. This has contributed to reducing costs and raising productivity and efficiency in the complex, whose capacity has reached 3,860 megawatts (21.5%), with an expectation of exceeding 21.5%. Clean energy: 36% of the energy mix by 2030.
He added that this supports the goals of the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Carbon Neutrality Strategy 2050, reaching 100% of energy production capacity from clean sources by 2050.
For his part, His Excellency Ahmed Butti Al Muhairbi said that the Supreme Council of Energy and the Emirates National Oil Company – ENOC are keen to activate a number of valuable measures that help ensure the safety of the fuel filling process at various supply stations and improve vehicle traffic operations.
