“Opera Palo” gives “Godolphin” the title of the “Mile” race at Sandown Racecourse

The colt “Opera Palo”, owned by the “Godolphin” team and under the supervision of trainer Charlie Appleby, was crowned champion of the “Mile” race dedicated to purebred crossbred horses (Second Category “Group 2”) for a distance of 1,600 meters on grass, which was held today, Friday, at the ancient British “Sandown” track.
The Emirati horses continued to shine at the ceremony, after winning three victories out of seven rounds. In addition to the victory of “Opera Palo”, the horse “Sadad” was crowned with the slogan of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and under the supervision of trainer Roger Varian, with the title of the “Gordon Richard Stakes” race (third category “Group 3”), which was held in the third half for a distance of 2000 metres. The horse “Raheeb”, owned by “Shadwell” and under the supervision of coach Owen Boras, also won the “Trail Classic” title, which ran in the fifth heat over a distance of 1,400 meters on grass.
Jockey William Buick was able to lead “Opera Palo” to a strong start, as he took the lead early and imposed his control over the course of the race, crossing the finish line in first place with a time of one minute, 42 seconds and 26 hundredths of a second, three lengths behind the second-place finisher, “Field of Gold” with the “Juddmont Farm” logo, under the supervision of trainers John and Thedi Gosden, and led by jockey Colin Kane.
The brilliance of the Emirati horses was completed by Zeus Olympius, owned by the heirs of Sheikh Mohammed bin Obaid Al Maktoum, in third place, under the supervision of trainer K. R. Burke.
